I have always found it fascinating how much nature plays apart in our everyday lives.
Research tells us that spending just 20 minutes a day immersed in an environment where we feel connected with the natural world can significantly reduce anger and fear, lower stress hormone levels, and increase pleasant feelings. Being exposed to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it also contributes to our physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate and muscle tension.
It is clear to me that the natural world leaves a deeply profound impact on our day to day behaviours, and that our separate existence is impossible.
By combining images of the human body and elements of nature, I wanted to create a sense of unity between the two subjects. I also wanted to show how inter-connected we as people are to nature by exploring how the human form can be found almost anywhere within it if you look hard enough.
